Join us for an hour of local love stories and strengthening vital connections in our community.

Kelowna, BC – United Way British Columbia – Southern Interior Region will be launching its 2021 Annual Campaign at a virtual Breakfast on September 15th at 8:00am PDT.

Join hundreds of United Way community champions from across the Okanagan, Columbia, Shuswap, Similkameen, Trail & District and East Kootenay regions for an hour of local love stories in our community.

This year’s campaign kickoff is particularly special as we commemorate the first campaign season of our newly-minted United Way British Columbia – which will wrap around the theme of strengthening vital connections amidst the pandemic.

The virtual campaign breakfast kickoff features the following:

  • Indigenous Welcome
  • Introduction to the 2021 United Way British Columbia campaign theme
  • A year in review for United Way British Columbia – Southern Interior region
  • Launch of the campaign video – “Not all Pandemic Stories are the same”
  • Impact stories:
    • Strengthening connections for seniors in community
    • Food security for stronger communities
    • Investing in children and youth for a better future
  • Show your local love – ways to get involved

The livestreamed event will start with a summary of United Way’s work in community from the past year, followed by the introduction to this year’s United Way campaign theme. We will also be hearing several stories of local impact from partners across the Southern Interior and Kootenay regions about how the pandemic has exposed some of the deep-seated socio-economic issues faced by families and individuals in our community. These partners bring solid examples of the work done by our local United Way within the following focus areas: Kids & Youth, Seniors, and Food Security.

We’re lucky to be living in a community where many that are willing and able step up and show their local love. Through this virtual kickoff event, we’re hopeful that it will spur everyone to continue taking action by supporting their local community throughout the season through our campaign and engagement activities.

COVID-19 has highlighted the effects of social isolation and demonstrated the critical need to strengthen vital connections in our communities. At United Way British Columbia, we’ve been supporting people throughout the pandemic. Still, because of increased pressure on services, we need more help than ever – and we can’t do it alone.

Please, join us. United, we are stronger.
