June 6, 2019 – Yesterday, United Way hosted their annual South Okanagan Community Appreciation Celebration at Poplar Grove Winery. The event recognizes all the campaign contributors such as workplaces, corporate and media sponsors, charity partners, volunteers and community leaders who drive the campaign forward every year. These generous acts of local love ultimately supported 17 local charities and over 18,600 vulnerable people in the South Okanagan and Similkameen communities.

Thanks to TD Bank Penticton who sponsored the event, guests were treated to delicious appetizers from Vanilla Pod Restaurant and a glass of wine from Poplar Grove Winery. The crowd of 60+ people enjoyed a short ceremony where the United Way team provided appreciation certificates to workplace campaigns, corporate and media partners and acknowledged all the efforts of those that contribute to the campaign whether it be time, talent or treasure including charity partners and volunteers.

Community leaders from the region were also in attendance including MLA Dan Ashton, Penticton Mayor John Vassilaki, District of Summerland Mayor Toni Boot, Summerland Councillor Richard Barkwill, and Summerland Chamber of Commerce Executive Director David Hull.
