February 24, 2019 (Kelowna, BC) – Last week, UBC Okanagan students once again generously volunteered  time during their reading week break to help local charities through the Pushor Mitchell United Way Day of Caring® Program. More than 40 students coordinated by the UBC Okanagan Community Service Learning program contributed over 100 hours in 11 projects.

Participating non-profit and other organizations that received help were: Arion Therapeutic Farm, Central Okanagan Food Bank, City of Kelowna PRC Family Day event, Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs, Freedoms Door, Kelowna Community Resources, Kelowna Gospel Mission, Living Positive Resource Centre, MCC Thrift Store, and YMCA. Projects included landscaping, farm work, indoor cleaning, painting, event support and resource kit creation.

Thanks to everyone for showing their local love!

About the Pushor Mitchell United Way Day of Caring®:

The Pushor Mitchell United Way Day of Caring® is a unique opportunity for employee, student or other volunteer groups to support local non-profit organizations by completing a project that the non-profit might not otherwise have the manpower or resources for. United Way coordinates the projects by matching up the charities with the volunteer teams.
