It is with mixed feelings that the Board of United Way SIBC confirms that Helen Jackman, our Executive Director, will be moving to a new role leading the Okanagan College Foundation in June 2019.
Since her appointment, Helen has worked hard with the Board to maximize the impact of United Way’s resources in our region. Our Community Investment Fund has distributed over $1M to 50 frontline charity partners, supporting vital programs to our communities most vulnerable citizens. Alongside this, we have introduced a number of innovative new partnership initiatives. We launched the Social Enterprise Fund investing in the capabilities of charities to develop long-term sustainable revenue. <CODE>anagan is helping disadvantaged youth build a future in our vibrant tech sector. We are convening partners to address social challenges together, including 100 Homes Penticton, and the Central Okanagan Poverty Reduction Strategy.
We have also merged two local United Ways to create a strong regional organization, UW Southern Interior BC, operating across the Okanagan and surrounding communities of Columbia, Shuswap and Similkameen.
Helen is joining a highly respected organization, which plays a vital role in transforming lives and communities across the Okanagan. We are confident that she will continue to make a significant impact in our communities in this new role.
As a Board, we are excited about the future for United Way across our region and remain committed to working on behalf of our donors and supporters to improve lives of the most vulnerable. Helen will support the search for a new Executive Director to continue to drive forward our strategic plan. Until that appointment, the United Way SIBC Board Executive Committee will work closely with the staff team based in Kelowna and Vernon to ensure strong leadership and momentum.
Consequently, we are now recruiting a dynamic, innovative and collaborative leader interested in working with us to achieve our mission of mobilizing action and improving lives. For details of how to apply, please visit: Career Opportunities at United Way SIBC.
We wish Helen every success in her new role, and while we will miss her, we look forward to seeing our collective efforts continue to benefit the community.
