In 2017 a number of agencies came together to discuss the development of a school garden at Pearson Road Elementary School (PRE). The initial hope was to develop a permanent outdoor garden where the community could interact with the school and develop a garden that reflected the multicultural nature of the community. The garden would serve the school by facilitating a number of educational opportunities and provide a therapeutic space.
The projected costs of the project soon added up and they became too much for the group to consider moving forwards. After going back to the drawing board the group came up with the idea of having a mobile garden that was easily portable. This would allow for easier watering, maximizing daily warmth and sunlight and securing the plants overnight.
