To our valued Community and Media Partners, Volunteers and Donors,

Like most organizations, United Way has developed measures to manage operations during the COVID-19 situation. In light of the recent measures taken at the provincial and federal level in regards to COVID-19, we want to reassure you that the health and safety of our staff, partners, donors, volunteers and clients is paramount.

As a result, we have implemented the following measures in light of the public health authorities recommendations:

  1. Social distancing:The United Way office in Kelowna and Vernon will be temporarily closed; however all of our staff will be working remotely and can be reached by email or cell. We are utilizing video conferencing software when appropriate. If you don’t have our personal contact info, please email or call 1-855-232-1321 and leave a message. Someone will be respond asap. The needs of the community and our funded programs are still a huge priority and we intend to stay on top of our fundraising and community investment efforts to ensure that the community needs are met.
  2. Event postponement: Our Spring events plan has changed considerably with any March and April events currently postponed until June or later. Decisions on May and June events will be made in the next few weeks. This is our year end (March 31, 2020) and normally a time of celebration when we get together to thank our community champions and donors. Rest assured, we are thinking of you all and appreciate all you do to support vulnerable people in our community. As of right now, the Bus Pull is still planned for June 6. Visit our events page for updates and pencil in our event dates (the power of positive thinking)!
  3. Community mobilization: United Ways of BC (and across Canada) are in close contact and monitoring the situation closely. We are uniquely positioned to respond to this crisis should local needs arise; please stay tuned for further updates on this. We look forward in continuing to work with you to collectively to meet the needs of the most vulnerable in our communities.

We hope that you, your families and those you work with stay safe and healthy during this time. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your United Way contact for more information and stay tuned for updates. We know everyone is getting inundated with COVID-19 messages so please follow us on for any public updates regarding status of any of the above.

Thank you as always for continuing to support your community through United Way especially during this health crisis. We will continue to build a healthy, strong community together!
